Help for people with learning disabilities

The following services are available to help and support people with learning disabilities.

Social work

We support, protect and improve your quality of life.

Occupational therapy

We look at your practical skills, like personal care or travel skills. If something is difficult for you to do we can talk about ways to make it easier


We can support you to move, sit and rest comfortably.

Community nursing

We can support you get the health care and treatment you need. We can also support you to have a healthier lifestyle.


We support you to think about your feelings. We can support you to change your behaviour if you, or other people, are worried about it. We will assess your IQ if someone needs to know this.


We look after your mental health needs.

Speech and language therapy

We can support you with your communication, hearing, eating and drinking.

Behaviour therapy

We support you when you feel angry or when carers find it hard to understand why you are angry or unhappy.

Supported employment service

We are Hackney’s own supported employment service. We can support you to find work, keep your job and get the training you need.

Hackney Service Centre is the building behind the Town Hall (which is in Mare Street, E8). This building has disabled access.
