Learning disability strategy
The Council, along with the City of London, have co-produced a five-year learning disabilities strategy with learning disabled residents and their families and carers.
Learning disabilities partnership forum
We have a learning disabilities partnership forum in City and Hackney, which works together to make City and Hackney a learning disabilities friendly place.
Services for learning disabled people
The find support services map allows you to search for services near you that offer support and advice.
The integrated learning disabilities service (ILDS) provides specialist support to eligible learning disabled adults in City and Hackney.
ILDS can support with:
- social work – we support, protect and improve your quality of life
- occupational therapy – We look at your practical skills, like personal care or travel skills. If something is difficult for you to do we can talk about ways to make it easier
- physiotherapy – we can support you to move, sit and rest comfortably
- community nursing – we can support you get the health care and treatment you need. We can also support you to have a healthier lifestyle
- psychology – we support you to think about your feelings. We can support you to change your behaviour if you, or other people, are worried about it. We will assess your IQ if someone needs to know this
- psychiatry – we look after your mental health needs
- speech and language therapy – we can support you with your communication, hearing, eating and drinking
- behaviour therapy – we support you when you feel angry or when carers find it hard to understand why you are angry or unhappy
Hackney’s supported employment service can support you to find work, keep your job and get the training you need.
