Superseded planning policies

The new borough-wide local plan 2033, known as LP33, is the key strategic planning document used to direct and guide development in the borough up to 2033. LP33 combines and replaces the following – the core strategy, development management local plan and site allocations local plan as well as the area action plans for Dalston, Hackney Central and Manor House.

Dalston area action plan

The Dalston area action plan (AAP) is a comprehensive strategy for co-ordinated development and design that reflects local aspirations for the future of the area. It is a guide to balanced development and provides confidence and certainty to developers and other public sector bodies.

The purpose is to establish the basis for shaping the regeneration of the area and to ensure the continued role of Dalston as a major town centre whilst respecting its unique character. The AAP has a strong focus on implementation and forms a statutory component of the local development framework.

The Hackney Central area action plan is a comprehensive strategy for co-ordinated development and design that reflects local aspirations for the future of the area.

It is a guide to balanced development and provides confidence and certainty to developers and other public sector bodies.

The overall purpose is to establish the basis for shaping the regeneration of the area and to ensure the continued role of Hackney Central as a district town centre whilst respecting its unique character. The AAP has a strong focus on implementation and forms a statutory component of the local development framework.

Hackney Wick area action plan

The Hackney Wick area action plan plays a central role in the regeneration of Hackney Wick. It provides a coherent strategy for guiding development and investment, and seeks to influence the direction of and maximise the benefits from the 2012 Olympic and Paralympics Games and their legacy for the wider Wick neighbourhood, half of which sits within the Olympic Park itself.

Core strategy

The core strategy is the primary and strategic document in the local development framework (LDF). It sets out a long term spatial vision and strategic objectives for future development in the area. It is characterised as the spatial expression of Hackney’s sustainable community strategy and is shown diagrammatically in the proposals map.

Development management local plan

The development management local plan (DMLP) sets out detailed, generally criteria-based, planning policies which we will use, together with the London plan, the core strategy and other supplementary planning documents, to assess planning applications.

The Council formally adopted the development management local plan (DMLP), including the policies map, on 22 July 2015.
