Coronavirus and Hackney’s markets
All markets and street trading activity – with the exception of Ridley Road Market – will cease with immediate effect.
Ridley Road Market will remain open 8am – 4pm Monday – Saturday and in a reduced capacity. Traders will sell food and household cleaning items only to help meet public demand for these essential goods which are in short supply from supermarkets.
Non-essential items including clothes, jewellery, luggage, pre-prepared and cooked food/street food will not be on sale.
Residents are advised not to visit the market unless it’s absolutely necessary. Visitors will be expected to observe social distancing of two metres and any gatherings of more than two people will be dispersed.

For decades Kingsland Market was the place to go to for spare parts and tools needed to fix anything from bicycles to transistor radios. It eventually became a market with an eclectic array of goods, attracting visitors from far and wide. In July 2018, the market was relaunched, honouring its heritage as a go-to destination for second-hand bargains, antiques and collectables.
