Housing schemes and residential care homes
Coronavirus – care home support package
On 13 May the government announced an additional £600 million to support providers through a new adult social care infection control fund. The fund will support adult social care providers to reduce the rate of transmission in and between care homes and support wider workforce resilience.
This was allocated to local authorities and is in addition to the funding already provided to support adult social care sector during the covid-19 pandemic.
Hackney Council was allocated £508,642.
In light of the imperative to stop outbreaks in care homes, the government asked all local authorities to review or put in place a care home support plan, drawing on local resilience and business continuity plans. A planning return was submitted on 29 May and consisted of a completed template and covering letter. In the spirit of transparency, these planning returns are published here:
To improve transparency, local authorities were also asked to publish on their websites the support they’re offering to providers of residential and domiciliary care services, as well as any other social care services they’re supporting.
Support to providers Hackney Council has contracts with
- domiciliary care: £112,797.56
- residential care: £194,056.75
- other provision: £103,241.63
- total spent so far: £410,095.94
