Hackney Marshes Girls Football League and the Hackney Marshes Saturday Youth Football League

The Hackney Marshes Girls Football League (HMGFL) and the Hackney Saturday Youth Football League (HMSYFL) for the 2024 to 2025 season kicked off on Saturday, 28 September 2024.

This season, the combined club membership of the HMGFL and HMSYFL includes 71 clubs, which amount to over 300 teams. Over 3,000 young players, from U8 to U17, will play football every Saturday at Hackney Marshes and Mabley Green during the 2024 to 2025 season.

Together, the HMGFL and HMSYFL form one of the largest youth participation projects in the borough of Hackney.

Both leagues are England Football Accredited and play an important role in supporting football development in the borough. They provide opportunities for children and young people from Hackney and surrounding areas to take part in regular, organised football.

Additionally, the leagues offer a football education program for their members. This includes:

  • coach professional development events
  • refereeing qualifications
  • football-themes accredited awards

If you’re a player looking for a team or a coach interested in coaching, contact Michael Cole: michael.cole@hackney.gov.uk. They can provide more information about the HMGFL and HMSYFL.
