Apply for a business permit
Key points to know before you apply
each vehicle must be essential to the running of the business. Essential means that without a vehicle you would be unable to run your business. Eg, needing a vehicle to transport your goods from a wholesaler to your business premises and there is no public transport alternative available. Using your car to travel between meetings will not be classed as essential. We will not issue permits for commuting purposes
you can apply for up to 5 e-permits per business premise. Each e-permit can have up to 3 vehicles on it but can only be used by one vehicle at a time. If you require additional flexibility you can add the same vehicle to more than one e-permit
you can only use the business e-permit in the zone of issue, and your permanent business address must be within the boundary of a Hackney parking zone
the vehicle(s) must be owned, hired or leased by either the business or the employee that will be driving it. If any of these vehicles are found to be registered at a different address, all your permits may be cancelled
the vehicle can be a passenger vehicle or a goods vehicle, constructed or adapted for the carriage of not more than 12 passengers (excluding the driver)
in accordance with DVLA regulations, a foreign-registered vehicle is only eligible for one business permit up to a period of 6 months. To renew your permit you must register your vehicle with the DVLA
parking is restricted to vehicles that do not exceed 2.27m (7′ 5″) in height, 5.25m (17′ 3″) in length and 3,500kg (7,716 lb) in unladen weight. Otherwise, the vehicle may be issued with a penalty charge notice or be removed if parked in contravention
a business e-permit doesn’t guarantee a parking space
your vehicle registration number (for up to 3 vehicles)

If your application isn’t successful, we’ll contact you to explain why or what you need to do to help us process it.

business e-permits are not valid in suspended bays. This may result in a penalty charge notice being issued and your vehicle may be relocated or removed to the car pound
