Approved premises for civil marriages and partnerships

These venues are privately owned buildings which have been approved for non-religious marriage and partnership ceremonies. They must have a valid licence at the time of your ceremony.

 

Booking and fees

To book a ceremony at any of these approved premises, you need to

  1. contact the venue first to check hire costs and availability
  2. provisionally book the venue
  3. contact Hackney Registration Service using the appropriate booking form below to check that our registrars can attend at the date and time you want

For a ceremony at any approved venue, you will pay a hire fee directly to the venue and a registrars’ attendance fee to us.

The only venues in Hackney which has an inclusive ceremony fee (room and registrars’ fees) is the Lanchester Suite at Hackney Town Hall.

For all the approved premises venues below, you need to pay a venue hire fee to the venue plus a separate registrar fee to us. See the ceremony booking forms below for registrar fees and registrar booking details.

The Glass House, Springfield Park

115 years after Springfield Park officially opened to the public this award-winning park has a brand new wedding and events venue, The Glass House.

The state of the art venue is a breathtaking community venue available for weddings, civil ceremonies, community classes, meetings and special events all year round.

Abney Park Chapel 

Abney Park Chapel is a magnificent Grade II listed building located in Abney Park, designed by William Hosking. It is the oldest surviving non-denominational chapel in Europe, completed in 1842. Restoration works include:

  • brand new stained glass windows
  • new seating at mezzanine level
  • new flooring
  • toilet facilities
  • electrics & lighting

Located between Stoke Newington Church Street and Stoke Newington High Street, Abney Park covers 12.5 hectares. This tranquil, historic and biodiverse green space is listed as a Grade II park on Historic England’s register of parks and gardens. It is also one the magnificent seven cemeteries in London. The elaborate monuments and ancient trees provide a serene and unique atmosphere for your ceremony.

Hackney Town Hall Venue Rooms

Reading Lane, E8 1EA.

Recently refurbished, Hackney Town Hall Venue Rooms are located in Hackney Town Hall, but are run as separate venues. They are approved premise for ceremonies. You need to contact Hackney Venues to organise room hire.

Please note that the Hackney Town Hall Venue Rooms form part of the Civic Floor (Hackney Town Hall) and include the Council Chamber, Committee Rooms, Assembly Hall and North Atria.
