This winter, we want to help you get cycling with a range of free pit stops and cycle lessons to get you on the road.
Winter cycling tips
- use lights – white at the front and red at the back
- use reflectors
- wear reflective clothing
- be confident – stay out of the gutter
- use mudguards
- cycle considerately and only
- where permitted
Free bike checks
Drop into one of these events for a free bike check and a free set of lights.
Look out for bike security marking by the Met Police at selected events (check Facebook and Twitter) and keep an eye out for our free light giveaways throughout winter. #bebrightstayinsight
Cycle training
We offer a variety of free cycle training for people who live, work or study in Hackney, ranging from tailored one-to-one lessons with instructors to advanced cycle skills lessons and family cycling lessons.
Want to fix your own bike?
Drop into one of our do-it-yourself fully equipped sessions. Hackney Bike Workshop‘s free workshops, run by volunteers, can help you to fix your own bike. First and third Tuesday of every month from 7pm to 9pm at The Hackney City Farm E2 8QA.
Spanner in the Workshop have free monthly drop-in workshop on the second Thursday of every month from 7pm to 9pm at The Old Schoolrooms, Round Chapel, E5 0PU.
