Housing Improvement Plan

Over the past 2 years, we’ve worked to provide a better service to people living in Hackney council homes. This has led to an increase in satisfaction levels in our housing service from when we started the improvement work.

We’ve now created a Housing Improvement Plan, which outlines the steps we’re taking to improve our internal processes. By improving our internal processes, we can complete more work for our tenants over the next 2 years.

What the plan covers

The plan includes what we’re going to do to make things better, and when we’ll do them by. It also explains how residents will be able to get involved in helping us make improvements.

The plan aims to improve the service by:

  • reducing the time it takes to complete work on repairs, damp, mould and leaks
  • making sure we keep tenants updated on changes
  • having better ICT systems so staff have easy access to the information they need to provide excellent services for residents
  • speeding up the resolution of any complaints
  • creating better training and procedures for our staff

The plan also includes the recommendations from the Housing Ombudsman and Housing Regulator. We will regularly update both of these organisations on the improvements we make and how successful they’ve been.
