The Hackney food network
The Hackney Food Network is a partnership of over 40 Hackney voluntary and community organisations. They provide food parcels, cooked food, food hubs, community supermarkets and co-ops for Hackney residents in need.
Many of the organisations in the network are led by residents with lived experience of food poverty.
You can take part in the food network by volunteering.
Our aims
We aim to:
- improve access to healthy, affordable and culturally appropriate food to improve people’s health, wellbeing and food security
- use food as a way to connect residents with wider support and strengthen local communities
- work with Hackney Council and other organisations as partners to tackle issues around food, keeping the needs and views of residents central to decision-making
- support residents to create social change, using food as a starting point to create a fairer and healthier Hackney
Who we work with
Food network partners are located across Hackney in every ward and neighbourhood. Local groups work together to support each other with food supply, space, volunteers and deliveries. They meet online once a month to share learning, advice and resources and to plan future development of the network. The network also send out a regular news update.
