Eco-Schools programme

The Eco-Schools programme is a pupil lead environmental education framework aimed to increase awareness about local and global environmental issues.

The programme is open to all educational establishments (private & public – early year, primary, secondary, colleges and SEND) in Hackney.

The programme:

  • inspires and empowers pupils to take charge of their future through environmental projects and leadership activities
  • raises awareness about local and global environmental issues
  • improves the whole school environment
  • creates financial savings
  • involves the whole school and wider community in environmental awareness projects

Support and guidance

As part of the Eco-School Programme we will:

  • guide and mentor schools through the Eco-School Programme – from the start of the programme all the way to achieving the internationally recognised Green Flag Award
  • conduct school infrastructure and waste audits with Eco Teams to help improve waste management practices
  • work with Eco-Teams to create and inspire positive change within the school through positive activities and projects
  • provide communication materials and training and support to help recycling capture and reduce contamination
  • on completion of the Eco-School Programme, pay the final assessment fees and provide a financial reward towards an eco-related product and/or service

We are so proud of our Eco-School projects.
