Young Hackney Eastway

A new youth sports facility for Hackney Wick

In response to findings in the ‘Hackney Wick Through Young Eyes’ report, highlighting a lack of amenities for young people in the area, we opened a multi-use sports facility for young people behind the Old Baths on Eastway in Hackney Wick in February 2022.

We secured £850,000 from a range of internal and external funding sources including the Mayor of London’s Good Growth Fund and London Legacy Development Corporation’s Neighbourhood Priorities Fund. We’ll operate the facility for the first 6 years and will seek to extend this once Young Hackney Eastway has fully embedded itself in the community.

Young people have been involved at all stages of the design and planning process and their ideas are reflected in the final designs for the classroom and the name of the facility – Eastway. It will include a new multi-use sports area, classroom, office, toilets, storage area for local groups to use and a courtyard.
