Cherbury Court

We plan to build new council homes in Cherbury Court. The site is in St John’s Estate in Hoxton. It includes the former St John’s Area Housing Office and St John’s Community Hall.

It’s part of our plan to build 400 new, high-quality homes for local residents on underused land such as garages or car parks. More than 300 of these homes will be council homes.

Designing the new homes

We chose architects and began designing the new homes in autumn 2024. Since then, we’ve been creating plans for the homes along with other improvements on the estate.

We spoke to residents at our engagement events in November 2024 and June 2025. We’ve used their feedback to help create the designs.

Read the feedback report on the Hackney Consultation website.

The earliest we can start building is 2027. This depends on the design process and getting planning permission. We plan to submit a planning application in summer 2026, following more consultation with residents.

Resident Steering Group (RSG)

A Resident Steering Group is made up of local residents. They work with us to help guide the project, involve the community and share local information to help us with the designs.

We’d like to set up an RSG for Cherbury Court if enough residents are interested.
