Parking exemptions for key workers

We are supporting critical workers on the front line of the borough’s response to the coronavirus pandemic by providing temporary parking exemptions to those who need them.

This allows critical workers to park in any resident or shared use parking bay in Hackney.

Who can apply?

This is open only to those classed as critical/key workers as described in government guidance and includes:

  • NHS workers / police
  • council workers, and contractors delivering essential services on their behalf (ie social care)
  • school staff
  • organisations providing support to vulnerable individuals, such as care home workers

More information on who is defined as a key worker.

Following the government’s 10 May announcement, exemptions remain available only to those whose work is critical to delivering essential services to support the borough’s response to the coronavirus pandemic.

Exemptions are a temporary emergency measure, are under regular review and may be withdrawn at any time.
