Play areas
Play is an important part of every child's development and essential both to their health and happiness. This is reflected in the Hackney Play Strategy 2007 to 2012 (PDF 1.3MB), where objectives include improving the access that local children have to new and improved play environments.

Play streets
Children in Hackney are set to reclaim the streets, thanks to a groundbreaking scheme that closes selected streets to through traffic, turning them into play streets. You can apply for a temporary play street order, which allows you to close your street for up three hours per week or month.
