Nationality checking service

The Nationality Checking Service is for applicants wishing to make an application for naturalisation as a British citizen using a paper application form and would like to have the application form checked for completeness and accuracy prior to being submitted by post to The UKBA.

It is not for applicants who have submitted or are planning to submit an online application for British citizenship. An alternative service, known as the Nationality Document Return Service, is available to applicants making online applications for British citizenship:Nationality Document Return Service

The Nationality Checking Service ensures that:

  • paper applications for British nationality are correctly completed in line with Home Office UK visas and immigration guidelines
  • all supporting documentation is checked, copied and certified (completed applications are forwarded to the Home Office by registered post)

Using the service can reduce delays and enable you to retain valuable documents such as passports and the majority of other important documentation.

It is not, however, a fast track service. We will not act as agents for the applicant and are unable to offer advice on nationality, visas, immigration or asylum.

Appointments are offered on selected Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, up to and including Wednesday 19 December 2018. After this date the Nationality Checking Service is no longer available.
